The Ronald McDonald Family Room serves parents and primary caregivers who have a child in the hospital. This private area is especially accommodating for those who may not meet distance requirements to be eligible to stay at the House.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room
Open in 2007, the Ronald McDonald Family Room is located on the 14th floor of Carilion Clinic Children’s Hospital; it serves as a respite area for adult family members and guests of hospitalized children. In close proximity to the Neonatal Intensive Care and only a quick elevator ride from Pediatric Services, the Family Room provides a home-like setting where families can relax without leaving the hospital.
Staffed by volunteers, this space is available 7 days a week from 9:00 am – 9:00 pm. On occasion, the room may be closed due to inclement weather conditions.

Visitors are asked to complete a brief registration card and sign in each time they visit thereafter.
Amenities include:
- A room with a beautiful view
- Comfortable seating and recliners
- Complimentary coffee, beverages, snacks and microwaveable meals
- Kitchen with refrigerator and microwave
- Computers with internet access
Food is not permitted to be taken out of the Ronald McDonald Family Room.
